If you're looking for the ultimate environmentally friendly heating and cooling system, then a geothermal comfort system is for you. With a geothermal heating and cooling system, you can reduce your carbon footprint and utility bills at the same time. Geothermal systems use the free, clean, renewable energy found in your own back yard to save up to 70% on heating, cooling and hot water costs.

R. Brooks Mechanical geothermal technicians are specially trained to guarantee that your geothermal installation is done correctly, and we are committed to customer support. We offer a wide variety of residential and commercial geothermal heating and cooling products.

How Geothermal works:

Regardless of the how cold or hot the air is outside, the temperature underground stays fairly consistent all year round, at about 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. The ground maintains a more consistent temperature because it absorbs the sun's energy as it hits the Earth's surface. Geothermal heating and cooling systems tap into this energy with an earth loop of pipes buried in trenches.

In the winter time, the underground heat is absorbed by the loop system and carried into the geothermal furnace where it is compressed to a higher temperature. The result is a warm and cozy home.

In the summer time, the process is reversed. The warm air in the home is absorbed by the geothermal furnace and moved into the cooler earth through the loop system. The result is a cool, comfortable home.

While heating and cooling the home, some geothermal furnaces can capture excess heat and use it to heat your hot water as well.

A geothermal heating and cooling system can be installed with new or existing construction.

The State of Maryland and the Federal Government offer grants and tax credits for the installation of residential and commercial geothermal heating and cooling systems. Click here to find out more information.
